Role Summary
Maintenance Mechanic responsible for providing maintenance expertise to service, repair, and maintain process and utility equipment in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Focus on improving equipment uptime, line efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness while ensuring safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance expertise to service, repair, and maintain process and utility equipment such as vial washing machines, sterilization tunnels, capping/sealing equipment, filling equipment, conveyor systems, vision inspection machines, laser marking systems, robotics, and other pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
- Understand customer needs and provide service with tact and good customer service.
- Improve equipment uptime, line efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness through condition monitoring, troubleshooting, and assisting in engineering changes.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment following departmental rules and regulations with solid mechanical aptitude.
- Prioritize safety and adhere to safety procedures and practices.
- Develop knowledge of the production line and how it interacts with upstream and downstream equipment.
- Assist in setup and/or changeover of production line equipment.
- Understand critical features and parameters of processes.
- Diagnose root causes quickly and accurately, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Document repair actions accurately.
- Be willing to assist in areas outside primary responsibility and learn additional skills as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Minimum 2 years of Maintenance or Manufacturing experience
- Completion of Post Offer Exam, or Completion of Work Simulation if applicable
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; no anticipated sponsorship for visa status
Skills
- English proficiency to communicate technical and business information effectively
- Proficiency with business software programs (e.g., GMARS, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite)
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Physical ability to work with or around equipment, climb ladders and stairs, and use PPE
- Familiarity with set-up and operation of a lathe, mill, surface grinder, and drill press
- Ability to read and interpret shop prints in a machine shop
- Hands-on experience with repair of equipment
- Industrial electrical troubleshooting using VOM and Amprobe meters for motor control
- Applicable military service training or production machine maintenance/machine shop experience
Education
- Not specified beyond the required high school diploma/GED
Additional Requirements
- Nights 12-hour shift (3-2-2-3) from 5:45pm to 6:00am
- Overtime may be required during shutdowns or periods of heavy workload
- Work in environments with potentially dangerous and hazardous equipment, powders, liquids, and gases; safety is paramount
- Mobility requirements and exposure to allergens; fit-for-duty testing may be required
