Role Summary

Center Medical Specialist (LPN/LVN/RN) in a plasma donation center. You will perform donor health assessments, determine donor eligibility, educate donors on general health, and manage donor injuries and adverse events. The role supports staff training and donor safety, and requires nursing licensure (RN/LPN/LVN or comparable) and CPR certification. Location: Jacksonville, NC, USA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Qualifications

  • Required: Licensed/certified in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT. Current CPR certification required.

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day
  • Bending and twisting of neck 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movement and dexterity requirements
  • Fine motor skills to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Occasional walking, bending and twisting at the waist; may squat or crouch as needed
  • Light lifting (up to 15 lbs) with a maximum of 50 lbs; hearing acuity essential
  • Color vision, near and far vision within functional ranges
  • Effective verbal and written communication; ability to listen and convey information
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Work in a plasma center environment with exposure to biological fluids and potential infectious organisms
  • Exposure to electrical equipment; use of personal protective equipment in cold plasma freezers
