Lead, Search & Evaluation, AI and Automation Drug Discovery

Role: Strategic leader in external innovation for AI, automation, and digital technologies in drug discovery at Takeda. Responsibilities: scout and evaluate external opportunities, assess partnerships and licensing prospects, lead technical due diligence, synthesize findings for leadership, and shape external innovation strategy aligned with R&D priorities. Collaborate with Research, Data, Digital & Technology, and Business Development teams; serve as Takeda’s representative in external innovation ecosystems; build strong networks across biopharma and tech sectors. Requirements: Bachelor's in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related; extensive industry experience in pharma or biotech, with deep understanding of drug discovery processes and familiarity with AI/ML, digital platforms, and automation. Proven experience evaluating external tech, leading cross-functional initiatives, and influencing senior stakeholders. Preferred: Advanced degrees (PhD, MD), experience in external innovation and technology strategy, and strong networks. High-value specifics: Focus on AI and automation in early to late-stage drug discovery, with approximately 20% travel. Location: Cambridge, MA, hybrid work setup.
