Role Summary
The Lead HVAC Technician, Maintenance - 1st Shift at Viatris leads maintenance on HVAC equipment within the facility, coordinating repairs and ensuring reliable operation. The role includes scheduling preventive maintenance, calibrating equipment, coordinating personnel and contractors, and maintaining necessary logs and inventories to minimize production interruptions.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and perform daily, monthly, and yearly maintenance on all HVAC equipment, chillers, pumps, etc. Maintain logbooks on maintenance. Troubleshoot HVAC problems and execute or coordinate repairs.
- Prepare layouts and size components for HVAC systems.
- Operate, modify, and maintain the physical plant control and data acquisition systems.
- Maintain inventory of adequate spare parts, filters, belts, refrigerant, etc.
- Clean up machinery and work area after performing maintenance functions.
- Schedule and coordinate work to minimize interruptions to manufacturing.
- Coordinate assigned personnel and contractors to facilitate job completion in a timely fashion and ensures conformance with specifications.
- Assist with calibration of equipment and instruments.
- Schedule and perform limited scope of electrical repairs on HVAC equipment, per the Qualified Technician as Electrical Worker Program.
- Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Maintenance Department.
Qualifications
- HS diploma
- Minimum of five years of experience with a certification required. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
- License / Certifications which are required are: Vermont State Refrigeration Certification and Qualified Technician as Electrical Worker
- Must possess applicable knowledge of using a pipe threader, power hand tools, hand tools, and test instruments. Plant machinery and equipment, replacement parts, plastic, copper, steel and black iron piping, HVAC units, refrigerant gauges, vacuum pumps and refrigeration recovery equipment. Must possess applicable knowledge of electrical. Must understand and adhere to Company and departmental policies and procedures as well as government regulations.
- Must be able to read and interpret general business documents. Able to write routine reports and general business correspondence. Ability to work with peers and communicate basic concepts.
