Role Summary

Lead Engineering Technician - Third Shift (10 PM - 6:30 AM) at Lilly. Responsible for supporting and maintaining the reliable operation and qualified state of plant equipment and processes within assigned areas, ensuring safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment, lead safety initiatives, and support all HSE corporate and site goals.
  • Support Utilities and GMP Utilities (WFI, Clean Steam, PCA, etc.) within areas of responsibility.
  • Understand mechanical equipment used in a manufacturing environment (pumps, motors, etc.).
  • Ensure safety by following safety rules and contributing to a strong safety culture.
  • Provide input into capital projects and support delivery within area(s).
  • Monitor daily system performance (utilities) and conduct routine walkthroughs of supported areas.
  • Perform standard troubleshooting on utilities and serve as first line of communication to crafts/shops and customers.
  • Schedule and coordinate work for area(s) of responsibility (PM/Corrective work).
  • Serve as GMARS SME for specific areas of support.
  • Act as primary on-site responder for issues requiring on-site response (alarm response) in areas of responsibility.
  • Create MAPs for scheduled and non-scheduled work.

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Oversee maintenance strategy implementation (PMs, job plans, datasheets).
  • Lead/participate in small projects for area of support and coordinate work/repairs with external vendors.
  • Manage shutdown work and schedule compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality and reliability using system performance data and ensure maintenance is performed appropriately.
  • Participate in Process Teams for Plant Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Technical understanding of utilities (WFI, Clean Steam, PCA, etc.).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with engineers, operations, maintenance, and quality personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Computer skills in SAP, GMARS, Excel, and related software.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and supporting HSE goals.

Additional Preferences

  • Parenteral manufacturing experience.
  • Plant engineering experience.
  • GMARS or similar CMMS experience.

Education

  • High School Diploma.
  • Associates Degree in Engineering or Technical Field preferred.

Other Information

  • Third shift hours (10 PM - 6:30 AM, M-F) with after-hours and shutdown support as needed.
  • Minimal travel required.
  • Work may occur in areas with allergens; mobility and exposure considerations apply.
