Position Summary:
Perform all tasks related to fermentation of active biological ingredients produced in Lincoln, Nebraska. Learn and apply basic microbiological techniques for fermentation; comply with SOPs and regulatory documents. Demonstrate verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills. Use mechanical skills to maintain equipment, identify mechanical problems, and maintain a safe work environment while demonstrating reliability in attendance.
Hours:
- 3rd Shift (Sunday–Thursday, 10:00pm–6:30am). Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.
Position Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate safe work habits and comply with safety SOPs (MSDS, Near Miss, PPE, biohazard training, monthly safety training).
- Maintain reliability in attendance and punctuality.
- Learn microbiological techniques (inoculating, inactivating, harvesting, dispensing) for bacterial antigen production.
- Follow SOPs and associated documentation.
- Train in and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Demonstrate interpersonal/communication skills.
- Perform mathematical calculations and metric conversions.
- Assist with documentation (process worksheets, log sheets, timecards).
- Operate, clean, and perform minor maintenance on fermentors, seed isolators, centrifuges, filtration units.
- Read/report test results using scientific instruments.
- Clean areas per SOPs.
- Obtain license and operate mobile powered material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, tank tugs).
- Perform supplemental duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Knowledge of personal computers using window-based applications.
Physical Position Requirements:
- Exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, noise, live steam, temperature fluctuations, and biohazards.
- Continuous standing and lifting up to 50 lbs. Weekend/holiday work may be required.
