Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer applies technical expertise to maintain reference lab instrumentation and equipment to ensure health, reliability, and performance. Completes regularly scheduled and preventative maintenance, supports daily operations, and provides off-hours maintenance and support at the Louisville, KY lab.

Job Duties:
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly scheduled maintenance for laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams (IT, Procurement, Operations, QA) to integrate necessary systems and establish inventory.
- Support project timelines with progress reports, lessons learned, and health assessments.
- Foster open communication, continuous improvement, and transparency with lab colleagues.
- Attend and participate in team and project meetings.
- Support new laboratory sites during go-live.
- Recommend and improve Operations Support functions.
- Perform and lead training exercises and sessions.
- Perform validation testing studies for laboratory expansion and other priority projects.
- Participate in and/or lead quality improvement and strategic priority projects as needed.

Education/Experience (Required):
- 2+ years of working laboratory experience.
- 1+ years of scientific equipment maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A.A.S Medical Laboratory Technician, A.A.S. Veterinary Technology, B.S. Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Scientist, or equivalent.
- MLT, MT, CLS, MLS (ASCP/AMT); RVT, CVT, LVT certifications.

Technical Skills Required:
- Proficient knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, MS Office, and collaboration tools (MS Teams, Smartsheet).
- Effective communication with teams and cross-functional partners.
- Clinical laboratory and instrumentation skills.
- Ability to perform validation testing studies.
- Strong team player; models and upholds Zoetis Core Beliefs.
- Excellent interpersonal communication; comfortable with public speaking in small groups.

Physical Position Requirements:
- Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods; bend/crouch; lift up to 50 lbs.
- Travel (<5%) may be required.
