Position Overview
Lab Manager for Synthesis Laboratories (Lilly Medicine Foundry) responsible for leading day-to-day operations, safety, and compliance in synthetic molecule laboratories to support process development, technology transfer, scale-up, characterization, troubleshooting, and manufacturing campaign support.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily administrative operations for process/synthesis labs; ensure safe, efficient, compliant execution.
- Drive readiness for new programs, equipment/utility installations, and facility expansions.
- Coordinate vendors/contractors; manage and maintain inventory.
- Primary point of contact for lab operational issues/escalations.
- Champion safety culture; ensure compliance with applicable quality standards.
- Maintain inspection readiness and support internal/external audits.
- Apply 5S and ALCOA principles to keep labs organized and inspection-ready.
- Oversee equipment lifecycle (installation, qualification, calibration, maintenance, retirement); ensure reliability/availability with Engineering/Equipment Support.
- Manage inventory (consumables, solvents, reagents, reference standards, critical materials) and sustain asset management/equipment registry systems.
- Lead continuous improvement (productivity, reliability, digitalization, data-driven decisions) and cross-functional collaboration.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in pharma/chemical/biotech/process development labs.
- Experience managing regulated laboratory operations.
- Ability to safely handle chemicals, wear PPE, and understand lab safety equipment/considerations.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. full-time; Lilly does not sponsor visas.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with technology transfer and scale-up of synthetic molecule processes.
- Knowledge of GMP, GLP, process safety, and lab compliance.
- Experience with ELN/MES/LIMS or other digital lab systems.
- Project management and cross-functional leadership.

Compensation & Benefits (as stated)
- Anticipated wage: $66,000–$154,000; eligible for company bonus (performance-dependent).
