Operations
A Typical Day Might Include
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory and vivarium equipment, including: CO₂ incubators and biosafety cabinets; cryogenic liquid nitrogen freezers; autoclaves & sterilizers; vivarium industrial tunnel and cage washers; clean steam generation systems; RO/DI laboratory water purification systems.
- Troubleshoot electromechanical, control-system, and monitoring device issues to minimize equipment downtime.
- Respond to equipment and site emergencies, including 24/7 support.
- Respond to environmental and equipment alarms (e.g., Rees, Dickson, Watchdog EX).
- Maintain accurate electronic work orders, calibration records, and asset compliance data.
- Support audit and inspection readiness for AAALAC, IACUC, and internal compliance activities.
- Partner with researchers, veterinarians, and animal care specialists to meet study and animal care requirements.

In Order To Be Considered, You Must Have
- High school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years relevant technical experience in laboratory or industrial equipment maintenance.
- Trade school in a related field is a plus (Engineering Technology, Biomedical Technology, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with motors, pumps, valves, and sensors; VFDs and PLC-controlled systems; 24 VDC, 3-phase 208V, and 480V; technical schematics and electrical diagrams.
- Ability to lift/move equipment up to 100 lbs.
- Willingness to work in vivarium research facilities (around animals).
- Valid driver’s license recognized by the State of New York.
