Role Summary

Key Account Manager - Cardiovascular in Philadelphia, PA territory including Philadelphia, Southeastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey, and Northern Delaware. Responsible for assessing and diagnosing the current business environment in assigned accounts related to Amgen Cardiovascular products, and planning/executing actions for success. Develops strong relationships with customers to support portfolio performance and brand strategies at multiple touch points within complex organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Key account strategic lead; develops and executes innovative strategies to reach difficult to access health care providers and accounts in a compliant manner
  • Maintains comprehensive account profile / needs assessment / strategic plan
  • Routinely meets with opinion leaders in Cardiology, Lipidology, Pharmacy, P&T Committee, etc., who act as partners or decision-makers
  • Presents MAC approved data and CV product messaging and delivers clinical messages compliantly
  • Ensures formulary adoption in targeted hospital accounts; coordinates pull-through and access with other sales colleagues
  • Monitors Amgen business performance across Cardiovascular portfolio
  • Identifies drivers/barriers and coordinates pull-through initiatives across field teams
  • Coordinates home office engagement with customers; arranges approved promotional programs and hospital initiatives
  • Builds professional relationships with key decision-makers in hospitals and related departments
  • Partners with Regional Account Executives and Regional Medical Liaisons in shared accounts
  • Coordinates with Reimbursement Access Value team to support open access to portfolio
  • Provides actionable field intelligence and recommendations to home office and CV brand teams
  • Provides insights to Pricing/Brand/GPO teams
  • Leads contract delivery, business reviews, and performance tracking; organizes competitive response
  • Shapes the environment; executes value/FDAMA 114 tools where appropriate; supports value of innovation

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree and 2 years of sales or related account management experience
    • Or Master’s degree and 4 years of sales or related account management experience
    • Or Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of sales or related account management experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 3+ years of account management and/or public payor experience
    • Advanced degree (e.g., MPH, MBA, PharmD) with 7+ years of healthcare sales/marketing experience
    • Experience in clinic, hospital, dyslipidemia, heart failure, access environment, and industry knowledge
    • Cardiology experience including dyslipidemia, heart failure, and acute coronary syndromes
    • Understanding of community cardiology trends and dynamics in dyslipidemia and heart failure
    • District management experience; reimbursement/managed care experience
    • Public payor / LCD processes familiarity; payor systems, billing, coding, and reimbursement knowledge
    • CMS policy knowledge; ability to resolve payor issues with sales force
  • Additional qualifications:
    • Leadership, influence, and ability to lead without authority
    • Ability to identify key decision-makers and build relationships within accounts
    • Ability to marshal appropriate Amgen resources to achieve objectives
    • Analytical skills for clinic economics/financial performance and data interpretation
    • Reimbursement navigation and strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities; creative problem-solving; initiative; teamwork
    • Independent work capability; broad computer skills
