Position Summary
- Lead the SAP application team to maintain scalable and reliable system operations, continuous improvements, and strategic SAP roadmap opportunities.
- Manage IT demand; architect and lead solution implementation with business, IT, and external partners to improve corporate application business processes, reporting, and capabilities in a pharmaceutical environment.
Responsibilities
- IT Application Strategy: Determine SAP/application strategy and roadmap; identify opportunities to leverage AI; stay current on regulatory, industry, and technology changes.
- Stakeholder Management / Partnership & Governance: Run stakeholder meetings to communicate project status and prioritize demand; mature IT governance and lead business reviews; improve efficiency, utilization, and governance; lead best-practice application training effectiveness.
- Application Management: Manage budget, licensing, and vendor management for SAP support partners and software vendors; partner with internal/external vendors and escalate/prioritize issues; work with business and Information Security to identify/mitigate security risks; support internal/external audits for policy compliance; define/evolve application management including change management and administration.
- Team and Project Leadership: Build relationships; lead offshore/onsite vendor and internal support teams to meet SLAs; coach team members and guide vendors; lead projects to meet schedule/budget/quality; manage risks/issues/actions/decisions; identify resourcing constraints and recommend prioritization.
- Procedures and Controls: Own and mature SAP SDLC; mature IT/business processes and training documentation; review/approve IT procedures and controls.
- Application Support and Administration: Manage day-to-day incidents/requests for SAP and related systems per SLAs and IT best practices; maintain SAP operations per policies/SOPs; plan/communicate outages/maintenance; execute/review scheduled SOX and IT General controls.
- Projects and Enhancements: Act as Project Manager for major projects; lead lifecycle activities (requirements, gap analysis/blueprinting, configuration/customization, testing, documentation, deployment, end-user training); formalize business cases/requirements/assessments; design and implement solutions and continuous process improvements; review/approve training/knowledge articles, SOPs, and design documents per Good Documentation Practices; review/approve SAP testing requirements and cutover/deployment plans.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: 4-year Bachelor’s degree (Business/Engineering or Supply/Operations with focus on Information Technology).
- Industry: Pharmaceuticals / Life sciences / Manufacturing.
- Computer/Application Skills: Windows, MS Office, ValGenesis, ServiceNow, SAP ECC / S/4 HANA.
Experience
- 10+ years IT management experience for SAP ERP applications.
- SAP functional and technical leadership.
- 12+ years hands-on SAP ECC 6 or S/4HANA experience across FI/CO, MM, SD, PP-PI, WMS, IBP, BI, PI/PO.
- Experience in SAP “Global Template” environments with in-house and external manufacturing in a validated regulatory setting.
- Experience developing business cases and leading SAP transformation initiatives.
- Experience with stakeholder, vendor, and IT demand management.
- Experience implementing/supporting SAP integrations with external partners.
