IP Paralegal (DePuy Synthes Legal Organization)

Responsibilities:
- Support management of the DePuy IP portfolio, including preparation, review, and electronic filing of patent and trademark application/registration papers, responses, and other prosecution documents.
- Assist with trademark clearance, conflict, and transactional matters; coordinate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel as appropriate.
- Use docket management and research tools to generate reports, monitor upcoming deadlines, and help ensure timely completion of required actions.
- Coordinate execution of formal documents (signature routing, tracking, completion, distribution, and retention) including agreements, assignments, declarations, powers of attorney, and other legal/business documents.
- Communicate professionally and independently with outside counsel, business partners, IP offices, and other stakeholders.
- Manage scheduling for IP Legal activities (meetings with attorneys, partners, inventors, outside counsel); prepare agendas/materials and coordinate follow-up.
- Arrange and manage travel logistics; coordinate itineraries, expense-related items, and travel changes.
- Proactively manage competing priorities; maintain accurate records.

Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate (or equivalent education + relevant experience).
- 3–5 years of paralegal/legal assistant experience supporting patent and/or trademark matters.
- Experience with patent/trademark prosecution workflows and electronic filing of documents (applications, registrations, responses, maintenance).
- Experience coordinating administrative workflows (execution of formal documents, scheduling, travel coordination).
- Strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written/verbal communication; collaborative working style with attorneys, paralegals, business partners, and external counsel.
