Responsibilities:
- Maintain docketing system for patents and trademarks.
- Maintain electronic US and foreign patent files.
- Generate and distribute monthly docket reports.
- Coordinate with attorneys, colleagues, foreign associates, and outside counsel to ensure patent and trademark deadlines are met.
- Correspond regularly with foreign associates and outside counsel on patent prosecution matters.
- Assist with preparation and filing of patent applications and prosecution documents, including declarations and assignments, and information disclosure statements.
- Manage references cited in information disclosure statements across large family/portfolios.
Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Technical Proficiencies:
- Experience using a patent docketing system and familiarity with the USPTO electronic filing system (required).
- Experience with patent prosecution; knowledge of PTO rules and procedures.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently and collaboratively under deadlines.
- Drive to grow a career as a senior paralegal and potentially into IP operations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 2β3+ years law firm and/or in-house experience handling patent filing and docketing matters; pharma/biotech experience is a bonus.
- Bachelorβs degree.
- Paralegal certification and California notary certification (plus).
