Role Summary

Instrument Technician - Process Instrument Technician responsible for process instrumentation maintenance support within Indy Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, focusing on equipment uptime, calibration, and reliability. Collaborates with Production, Engineering, Quality Control, Labs, and other groups to troubleshoot, maintain, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on process instrumentation and provide project support on production and utility equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate process aptitude and apply skills across real-world process experiences (e.g., transmitters for pressure, temperature, flow, pH, level).
  • Install/replace basic electrical equipment (switches, fuses, cables, circuit breakers, light fixtures, raceways, conduit, disconnects, temporary power) including sizing when necessary.
  • Install/set-up/replace instrument/electrical equipment (switches, transmitters, controllers, VFDs, various process instrumentation).
  • Diagnose basic electrical problems to restore equipment/systems to operating condition (lighting circuits, 3-wire control circuits, 12/24V control circuits, 120V circuitry, heat tracing, motor resets, fuse changes, breaker resets).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical equipment from 24 VDC to 480 VAC to restore equipment/systems to operating condition.
  • Operate basic electrical/pneumatic test equipment (e.g., flukes, signal generators, oscilloscopes, Amtek, MKS).
  • Provide Process Instrumentation support for equipment qualification (IQ/OQ).
  • Provide accurate, complete, and legible Work Order documentation in CMMS GMARS (and on paper when required).

Qualifications

  • Required: High school diploma/GED
  • Required: Minimum 3 years of maintenance or manufacturing experience or 3 years of instrumentation or electrical experience
  • Required: Completion of Post Offer Exam or Work Simulation, as applicable
  • Required: Legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship anticipated
  • Preferred: Associate's degree or Technical Certificate in Electrical / Automation / Instrumentation, or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Strong electrical knowledge with desire to develop expertise in process instrumentation
  • Preferred: Experience in regulated industries (FDA preferred)
  • Preferred: Proficiency in CMMS (GMARS), Microsoft Word, and Excel; high level of customer service
  • Preferred: Ability to follow procedures, work in a team, maintain neat work area, 1 year of process experience, troubleshooting knowledge, good documentation and communication skills
  • Preferred: Commitment to safe work practices and support of HSE goals; willingness to work outside of craft as required

  • Occasional overtime during peak periods; schedule changes for shutdowns, training, and vacations
  • Respond to off-hour or weekend emergencies as needed
  • US travel 5% or less
