Job Position Overview:
The Instrument Technician services, troubleshoots, and maintains utility equipment across site facilities, including instrumentation, electrical, high purity water, compressed air, steam, chilled water, glycol, city water, and sewer systems. Provides advanced technical expertise in process instrumentation, diagnosing complex problems and performing preventative/corrective maintenance to keep systems in compliant operating condition. Partners with the Supervisor and Planner/Scheduler to develop and improve job plans and procedures; supports craftspeople across multiple trades with strong customer service and safety practices.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair complex process instrumentation issues (temperature, pressure, flow, pH, conductivity, TOC, control valve systems) to restore operation and minimize downtime.
- Perform preventative/corrective maintenance, calibration, and new installations/modifications of process instrumentation across utility systems.
- Interpret P&ID drawings and mechanical schematics to troubleshoot and support job planning.
- Partner with Supervisor/Planner/Scheduler to develop/improve job plans, procedures, and performance objectives.
- Maintain cGMP compliance by following approved procedures and documenting work per Good Documentation Practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Lift up to 40 lbs; tolerate outdoor exposure to varying temperatures.
- Respond to call-ins and work scheduled overtime.
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
- 3+ years relevant experience in instrumentation/electrical/utilities maintenance (high purity water, compressed air, steam, chilled water, glycol, city water, sewers).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Speak/read/write English for technical/business communication.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; no visa sponsorship.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Associate’s degree/Technical Certificate (mechanical) or equivalent; applicable military training acceptable.
- Manufacturing production/maintenance experience; regulated industry experience (FDA preferred).
- Troubleshooting with minimal downtime; CMMS proficiency (e.g., Maximo).
- Ability to read mechanical prints/schematics and follow written maintenance procedures.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Mon–Fri, 8 hours/day; possible shift changes; PPE required; hazardous utilities exposure.
Compensation/Benefits (if applicable):
- Anticipated wage: $21.27–$41.25. Full-time employees may be eligible for a company bonus and comprehensive benefits (e.g., 401(k), medical/dental/vision, vacation, life insurance, time off/leave, well-being benefits).
