Role: Institutional Account Manager responsible for promoting BioMarin’s rare disease therapies in California, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, and Idaho. Objectives include maximizing sales, increasing disease awareness, patient identification, and fostering clinical relationships. Responsibilities encompass developing strategic business and institutional plans, managing key healthcare provider relationships (neurologists, geneticists, pediatric specialists), and driving market penetration through education and collaboration. The role involves territory management, virtual and in-person customer engagement, and adherence to compliance standards. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; 5-7 years in pharma/healthcare, with 3-5 years in biotech or specialty sales, especially with high-cost or rare disease products. Preferred: experience with hospitals, academic institutions, KOLs, C-suite engagement, orphan drugs, “the find” methodology, and product launches. High-value specifics: focus on rare genetic conditions such as MPS, Batten disease, Fabry, and Pompe, with emphasis on orphan product commercialization, high-cost therapies, and multi-region territory oversight. The position requires significant overnight travel (50-75%) and proficiency in remote selling platforms. Experience in the US specialty biotech market, especially with hospital/institutional sales, is highly desirable.
