Role Summary

HypoPara Clinical Specialist is a field-based role within Ascendis Pharma's national sales expansion focused on Endocrinology Rare Disease and Oncology. You will engage in customized, in-person discussions with customers, drive sales performance, manage territory budgets, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver resources and opportunities. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment, and a commitment to compliant, ethical engagement with patients and providers.

Responsibilities

  • Use your product knowledge to engage in customized discussions and in-person interactions based on customer needs in a compliant and ethical manner
  • Drive outstanding sales performance that ensures sales forecasts are met or exceeded
  • Effectively uses assigned budgets to drive therapeutic and territory expectations
  • Maintains current understanding of local market, practice structures, business models, and key influencers; routinely shares such information with relevant Ascendis stakeholders
  • Works with appropriate customers and accounts to understand practice structure, business model, key influencers, network structure, customer needs, and to identify business opportunities
  • Effectively uses analytical tools to understand and evaluate the business to determine how to accomplish sales objectives and apply resources ethically and effectively
  • Work with leaders to develop a business plan that ensures achievement of goals and delivery on sales objectives; understands formulary approvals and related opportunities
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to deliver appropriate resources and pull-through within the territory
  • Demonstrates administrative excellence to manage work hours, sales call data, customer responses, samples, expense reporting, and other administrative items

Qualifications

  • Required: 5+ years of previous sales experience in a specialty sales environment
  • Preferred: Rare disease and injectable experience
  • Preferred: Adult endocrinology disease state experience
  • Preferred: Start-up experience
  • Required: Experience working with complex distribution systems and HUB services to ensure smooth customer experience
  • Required: Proven history of strong performance
  • Preferred: Experience in a new product launch environment
  • Required: Demonstrated experience working with patient services in a distribution HUB and specialty pharmacies
  • Required: Self-starter with excellent decision-making, judgment, and ethics
  • Required: Proven ability to collaborate with peers and across functions
  • Required: Experience working in a specialty drug (rare/orphan disease) environment to ensure customers’ and patients’ needs are addressed in a compliant way
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to develop a successful business plan based on customer and patient needs
  • Required: Ability to analyze data/metrics to assess progress against objectives and diagnose performance issues and identify new opportunities
  • Required: Experience establishing new customer relationships and communicating technical information in a highly adaptable, ethical, and effective manner
  • Required: Ability to meet all credentialing requirements at all times, as updates or repeat screens may be necessary depending on territory, health system/customer demand, and company policy
  • Required: Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Required: Overnight travel is required
