Senior Director, HR Business Partner (Data/Technology/AI)
General Summary
- Partner with the CDIO and lead the people agenda for Vertexโs Data, Technology & AI organization to enable execution of the Data/Tech/AI roadmap as AI transforms how work is delivered.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary people strategist for the Data/Tech/AI function; own talent strategy and organizational effectiveness.
- Partner with Data/Tech/AI leadership to deliver workforce planning, talent development, performance management, organizational effectiveness, and HR programs/policies.
- Translate business/technology/AI strategy into an integrated people and organizational agenda; influence executive decisions with tradeoffs and data-backed recommendations.
- Lead transformation of the Data/Tech/AI operating model (change leadership, governance/decision rights, ways of working).
- Design and evolve org structure, role clarity, spans/layers, leadership interfaces, and operating mechanisms.
- Own enterprise talent strategy for Data/Tech/AI capability (role architecture, skills expectations, selection standards, development pathways, succession depth).
- Drive strategic workforce planning: attract/develop/retain technical and leadership talent; build/buy/borrow, internal mobility, upskilling/reskilling for evolving AI roles, and location strategies; support retention for critical roles.
- Coach senior leaders; facilitate leadership team journeys; run talent reviews and succession planning.
- Champion innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, feedback loops, and sustainable performance norms.
- Use data/analytics (and AI) for talent intelligence and to measure impact of talent interventions.
Qualifications / Skills
- Experience partnering with highly technical organizations (Data/Technology/Engineering/Product/AI/Analytics/Cybersecurity) in complex environments.
- Strong knowledge of Data/Technology/AI operating models and AI-driven transformation impacts on skills and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to use data/analytics/AI to inform decisions and drive accountability.
- Proven experience applying AI within HRBP workflows.
- Advanced expertise in organizational effectiveness, change leadership, culture shaping, and organization design.
- Deep strategic workforce planning experience (capability development, succession planning, long-term talent strategies).
- Bachelorโs degree required; 12+ years progressive HR experience (or equivalent), including significant partnership with senior leaders.
- Recognized strategic HR business partner; strong executive influence; agile, credible, collaborative.
Pay Range
- $227,200 - $340,800. Eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards.
