Role: HR Policy, Risk & Controls Manager (HR Operations & Compliance) β Bridgewater, NJ
Role Overview
Ensures HR policies, processes, and programs align with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and the company risk management framework; oversees HR risk/controls as a second line of defense and partners with Internal Audit and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop/maintain HR policies and procedures.
- Monitor HR compliance; identify, assess, and mitigate emerging risks.
- Lead compliance assessments, corrective actions, remediation.
- Monitor HR risk indicators/trends; investigate root causes; report to HR leadership.
- Oversee data privacy and employee investigation governance.
- Lead HR regulatory reporting, compliance documentation, and training.
- Own/maintain the HR Risk & Control Matrix (RCM).
- Ensure controls are understood, designed, executed, and documented.
- Perform control checks and quarterly assessments; remediate gaps.
- Oversee HR SOX controls (documentation, testing, evidence, remediation).
- Support audits and control walkthroughs; track remediation to completion.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in HR, Business Administration, Risk Management, Compliance, or related (required).
- Masterβs degree (a plus).
- 5+ years in HR/compliance/internal audit/risk management (cross-functional, fast-paced).
- Strong risk management and compliance framework knowledge.
- Familiarity with HR systems and data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR/CCPA); internal audit practice.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, confidential; strong communication/stakeholder management.
- Advanced Excel; HRIS (Workday) and audit/compliance tools; Power BI (preferred); SharePoint/Smartsheet (experience).
- Certifications preferred (e.g., PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, CCEP).
