Head of Technology - Therapeutic Areas (TAs) & External Scientific Innovation (ESI)

Role: Senior Director – Head of Technology for Therapeutic Areas and External Scientific Innovation at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, supporting Immunology, Oncology, and Neuroscience. Responsibilities: develop and execute technology, data, and AI strategies aligned with therapeutic and external innovation priorities; oversee product portfolios, platforms, and systems supporting discovery biology, translational research, biomarker development, and clinical trial design; establish partnerships with Data Science and AI teams to shape next-generation R&D ecosystems; manage technology lifecycle, ensure compliance, security, and FAIR data principles; lead cross-functional teams, prioritize initiatives, and incorporate external collaborations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field; 10+ years in pharmaceutical R&D technology, including 5+ years in leadership roles; deep knowledge of discovery biology, clinical development, digital tools, and data management; experience with laboratory systems, AI/ML, multi-omics, and external innovation. High-value: focus on Immunology, Oncology, and Neuroscience; emphasis on AI-enabled scientific workflows, data integration, and scalable platform development; global, matrixed team leadership with external partnership support. Work setup: location flexible (MA, PA, CA, Belgium); travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.
