Head of Technology- Systems & Engineering

Role: Senior technology leader overseeing the development and operation of shared R&D platforms within Johnson & Johnson's Innovative Medicine division. Primary objectives include modernizing and optimizing enterprise platforms to accelerate drug discovery, development, and regulatory processes. Responsibilities encompass defining strategic roadmaps for finance and planning, data, AI, compute, security, and enterprise tools; leading cross-functional teams; managing vendor relationships; ensuring platform security, reliability, and compliance; and driving portfolio management and lifecycle strategies. The role requires building a high-performing, globally distributed team and fostering collaboration across R&D functions such as discovery, development, regulatory, data science, and operations. Key responsibilities involve driving platform modernization, automation, cloud optimization, and risk management, while embedding secure-by-design practices. Qualifications include 15+ years of progressive technology leadership, a master’s degree in IT or related fields preferred, with extensive experience in enterprise platforms, cloud, AI, cybersecurity, and regulated environments like pharma or biotech. Demonstrated success leading large, matrixed teams and managing complex, multi-year modernization initiatives is essential. High-value specifics include focus on life sciences R&D, cloud and data platforms, AI integration, and application lifecycle management. The position reports to the Head of Technology, Innovative Medicine R&D, with 15–20% domestic and international travel, based in Titusville, NJ.
