Head of International Policy & Analytics
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the International Policy & Analytics team to develop and execute an international policy strategy aligned with enterprise priorities; identify emerging trends and translate them into actionable approaches.
- Represent International Government Affairs to senior executives across commercial, legal, regulatory, MHI, medical affairs, corporate affairs, and market access; provide strategic counsel on complex public policy with risk/opportunity recommendations.
- Develop and implement monitoring and analytics to assess impact, inform mitigation strategies, and generate evidence/data to support AbbVie public policy positions; develop policy documents and advocacy materials.
- Create and lead internal, cross-functional working groups to assess public policy proposals and develop integrated policy positions.
- Represent International GA in enterprise forums; lead and manage the International Policy Council to ensure alignment and input across the International Therapeutics Business Unit on key policy issues.
- Lead international trade association strategy, serving as key internal lead for IFPMA and ensuring alignment across geographies and trade associations.
- Support VP, International Government Affairs and senior ELT members on BCR strategy; identify engagement opportunities and develop briefing/support materials for BCR and IFPMA engagements.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team; foster collaboration, agility, strategic thinking, and impact.
- Represent AbbVie in external engagements with government officials, trade associations, multilateral organizations, and relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years in government affairs and/or policy, economics, or international relations.
- Significant public policy experience with strong knowledge of international policy/regulations affecting the pharmaceutical industry and the policy-making process.
- Strong leadership; ability to drive policy analysis across business functions and build consensus.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate complex concepts verbally and in writing.
- Strategic, creative, and good judgment; flexible/adaptable in fast-changing environments.
- Well-honed political sensitivities and executive presence with high-profile stakeholders.
- Preferably international experience at national/regional/global levels and knowledge of healthcare systems, legislative/policy processes, and geopolitical dynamics.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, or public policy required.
