Roles and Responsibilities
- Create the vision for Supply Chain organizational success; define direction, strategies and implementation plans; communicate with stakeholders.
- Ensure business goals are achieved; direct cross-functional teams across Apellis/Biogen (Commercial and R&D); accountable for fiscal budget management.
- Oversee end-to-end flow of materials, information, and products to ensure efficiency, cost reduction, and timely delivery (including supplier/distributor/3PL contract negotiation and relationship management; inventory management; demand planning; production scheduling; transportation; proactive issue identification and contingency planning for supply disruptions).
- Evaluate opportunities to drive continuous improvement by uncovering customer and market needs; champion innovative approaches.
- Build and maintain a capable team; ensure leadership continuity through talent development; anticipate talent needs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- 20+ years pharmaceutical industry experience.
- 15+ years commercial supply chain experience and leadership.
- Bachelorβs degree required; advanced degree in a relevant area highly desired.
Knowledge & Skills (Required/Preferred)
- Experience leading a global complex pharmaceutical/biotech supply chain; strong knowledge of Pharma Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Business Operations, and Market Dynamics.
- Experience building/scaling global supply chain operations for growth and new product launches.
- Experience managing clinical drug supply chain as part of overall supply chain management.
- Strong understanding of pharma business processes/systems; demand/supply planning and forecasting software experience required.
- Experience operating with outsourced capabilities (e.g., contract manufacturing); critical negotiation experience.
- Collaborative stakeholder experience (Clinical, Marketing, Manufacturing); on-the-ground experience desirable.
- Ability to build and execute global supply chain strategic/operational plans; strong cultural understanding and agility.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership and problem-solving; ability to mentor and develop talent.

- 10% travel.
