Operations
Responsibilities:
- Identify biologics equipment for multi-million capital projects; specify and purchase equipment across engineering disciplines.
- Serve as spokesperson on advanced pharmaceutical biotechnology projects/programs (including equipment selection); present results internally and externally.
- Advise management and operating sites on applications of new advanced processing equipment; support project planning and process updates.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies/procedures; deliver quality/effective solutions via sound design, early risk assessments, and strategy implementation; understand potential defects/failure modes from design changes.
- Act as lead engineer, project leader, or contributor; provide technical direction and feedback to others.
- Evaluate and integrate engineering advances to improve/solve problems; identify solutions aligned with business needs.
- Solve operating issues and provide technical support to cross-functional teams within aseptic sites.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field preferred.
- 5+ years engineering in pharmaceutical aseptic process design, equipment selection, and operation in upstream and/or downstream biological processing.
- Demonstrated depth/breadth in biological equipment; recognized subject matter expert; experience specifying and purchasing upstream/downstream process equipment.

Good knowledge/understanding/experience (selected):
- Pharmaceutical biotechnology, compounding/infrastructure (cleanroom, water/HVAC), regulatory requirements (EU/US), microbial control/environmental monitoring, control systems (SCADA/MES), single-use systems, cleaning/sanitization, robotics.
- Process analysis/troubleshooting tools, high-containment processing, change control, ISPE/AMSE/ISO/USP literature, project costing/lead times/control.
- FMEA/risk assessments/investigations for aseptic pharmaceutical processes; negotiation and ability to reconcile differences.
