Role Summary
Gene Therapy Account Management, Associate Director (GTAM) supporting SCD and TDT Heme Business Unit. Focused on Key Account Management (60%) and Demand Generation (40%), promoting the safe and effective use of Casgevy to medical providers per coverage plans. Full-time, field-based role supporting key territories across the Central and/or Western US; Tennessee-based preferred (Nashville or New Orleans).
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary commercial point of contact for covering Activated Treatment Centers (ATCs) and affiliated referral networks; support ongoing training and education through onboarding and activation, ensuring order readiness across ATC activities.
- Coordinate Vertex activities related to ATC activities with cross-functional partners to ensure seamless coordination within the site.
- Compliantly promote the safe and effective use of Casgevy in accordance with the product label and company training and policies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at sites of care and referring sites to drive awareness and adoption of Casgevy.
- Build and execute comprehensive account plans for ATCs, referral networks, and community practices; track and report progress towards KPIs and patient journey milestones.
- Engage with referral hospital and community-based HCPs focused on hemoglobinopathies to broaden awareness and adoption of gene therapy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely access to critical solutions and support throughout the patient journey.
- Provide feedback to Vertex cross-functional partners and management regarding account-level trends, landscape changes, and opportunities.
- Maintain clinical expertise in Hematology, including SCD, TDT, and HSCT.
- Operate and achieve objectives in an ethical and compliant manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 8 years in key account management, sales management, or rare disease product launches in biotech, device, laboratory, or specialty field sales (e.g., Cell & Gene therapy, Hematology, Transplant, Oncology/Immunology, rare disease or clinical experience in SCD, BMT, or Cell & Gene settings).
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA compliance.
- Hospital finance, claims processing, and/or billing/coding experience preferred.
- Understanding of PA process, denial management, specialty pharmacy acquisition, buy-and-bill, IV infusion coding, and reimbursement across multiple sites of care.
- Understanding of buy-and-bill, specialty pharmacy networks, managed care, benefit design, government payers; knowledge of market access and reimbursement landscape.
- Knowledge of infused-biologic therapies for chronic, rare diseases.
- Valid driver’s license and clean standing.
- Ability to travel up to 100% to assigned coverage locations.
