Field Scientific Director (FSD)

Responsibilities
- Partner with medical leadership to develop field initiatives aligned with medical strategy.
- Collaborate with field medical operations to support and monitor field initiatives.
- Contribute to field medical engagement tactics aligned with medical strategic priorities.
- Ensure alignment on strategic engagements through communication, training, and reporting.
- Lead development and execution of field training curriculum for the therapeutic area, including onboarding and continuous learning journeys.
- Coach MSL performance, development, and learning to ensure excellence in executing the role and achieving strategic objectives.
- Maintain strong knowledge of the therapeutic landscape (treatment strategies, competitors, and new scientific/clinical developments).
- Guide individual and team development (clinical, technical, digital, communication, and leadership skills) via annual and quarterly training plans.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement formal training meetings (virtual and on-site/offsite).
- Coordinate onboarding and certification for new field medical personnel; adapt/revise/disseminate onboarding materials; coordinate with MSL manager, operations, and new hires.
- Assign and coordinate peer mentors and training moderators for onboarding.
- Facilitate onboarding training sessions on assigned topics.
- Collect training documentation (including PRO1) and upload to repositories for audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Medical Content Developers/Medical Directors to ensure FBM competency with new scientific data and content.
- Deliver training using creative/engaging tools.
- Coordinate with vendors/internal training partners (e.g., MLI, GTMC) as needed.
- Conduct periodic training surveys to assess learning/development needs and training effectiveness.
- Perform field visits with individual MSLs to support territory development and address field challenges/issues.
- Support MSL onboarding of new talent to accelerate effective field interactions.
- Ensure MSLs have robust scientific knowledge and communication skills for impactful scientific exchanges.
- Confirm MSLs complete required global/corporate training for compliance with applicable internal/external policies and regulations.
- Support MSL team in creating meaningful individual development plans.
- Manage budgets and administrative requirements related to field initiatives.
- Support content adaptation/localization/creation when needed; support development of SEP content, MTEs, FAQs, etc. as needed.
- Complete required personal company trainings and certifications.
- Stay updated on emerging scientific/technological advances and regulatory requirements.
- Attend and contribute to internal team meetings.
- Create, execute, and update personal individual development plan.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Advanced degree in a relevant scientific/medical field (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD).
- Prior experience in a field medical role or pharmaceutical industry.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Prior experience in training/teaching within academia and/or pharmaceutical industry.
- Prior experience working within the therapeutic area.
