Role Summary

Field Access Lead for Oregon / San Francisco. Reports to Field Access Director within Pfizer North America. Serves as the main point of contact for patient access, providing HCP offices with technical expertise to avert and resolve access and reimbursement issues and support patient access to Pfizer therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct office calls with HCPs and/or office staff to enable appropriate patient access to Pfizer products, including assistance in resolving reimbursement and coverage questions
  • Provide education for HCPs/office staff regarding local/regional payer landscape, payer coverage and formulary change updates, payer policies (e.g., prior authorization, step edits, specialty pharmacy coverage) and patient support
  • Coordinate reauthorization process at designated accounts to ensure timely reauthorization and continuation of therapy
  • Distribute Pfizer RC-approved materials to HCPs/office staff relating to coverage and reimbursement matters, such as Patient Assistance Programs and billing and coding reference guides
  • Provide education for HCPs/office staff regarding Hub financial assistance offerings, enrollment process, Hub HCP portal(s), and other Hub financial assistance brochures
  • Reactively assist HCP offices with coding and claims-related issues by contacting payers to understand policy or procedures and to provide information on payer requirements
  • Compliantly use Pfizer’s designated case notes system
  • Act as subject matter expert on reimbursement and coverage issues affecting Pfizer products in their assigned area to facilitate patient access
  • Provide interpretive information and local market insights to internal leadership on potential reimbursement issues
  • Communicate effectively with diverse customers; maintain discretion and confidentiality; adhere to compliance guidelines
  • Link customer insights to offerings to address patient access barriers; build trust through follow-up and knowledge of the access journey
  • Demonstrate excellence in responsible business communication in written and spoken form

Qualifications

  • Required: Minimum 7+ years in pharmaceutical industry, typically in sales and/or coding, access and reimbursement
  • Required: B.S. or B.A. degree
  • Preferred: Reimbursement and Access experience; strong understanding of Specialty Drug Reimbursement, Government Payment Systems, Provider/Carrier Networks, Co-Pay Assistance Programs; knowledge of policy dynamics across Pfizer units/brands
  • Required: Experience with exceptional communication and presentation skills, strategic planning, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Required: Proven ability to work in a highly regulated environment with strict compliance; history of collaborating with diverse customers and stakeholders
  • Required: Valid US driver’s license with compliance driving record; DUI/DWI within past 7 years disqualifies
  • Required: Ability to influence and collaborate, develop and coach others, and guide colleagues to achieve outcomes
  • Required: Thorough understanding of payer policy processes, systems and coverage/reimbursement requirements; ability to communicate technical elements of payer approval processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certification in coding and reimbursement
  • Coding and billing knowledge or certification

Education

  • B.S. or B.A. degree required
