Role Summary

Provide expert field-based patient education and support throughout the treatment journey for the Rett community. Serve as a dedicated point of contact to Rett families for on-label, clinical education-related questions about disease state and product education. Engage with caregivers and families, healthcare professionals (if appropriate), and local communities to help patients progress in their healthcare journey and to start and stay on therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide disease state, product, and ongoing therapy management education upon request, in consumer-friendly language to the Rett community, including patients, caregivers, and/or other care team members. Engagement may occur before, during, and after therapy initiation via in-person, telephonic, and/or virtual formats.
  • Determine individual needs of patients and caregivers, and serve as an ongoing resource to provide appropriate education and resources at each stage of the patient journey.
  • Collaborate with and support the entire assigned territory across cross-functional partners (Marketing, Sales, Patient Access Team, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, and others), potentially covering multiple states; communicate educational opportunities with partners as appropriate.
  • Provide expert knowledge and insights to internal stakeholders to develop tools and resources addressing educational gaps and therapy management strategies for patient families/caregivers.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of disease state, product, and Acadia Customer Support Programs (Hub-related, Patient Assistance Programs, ambassador speaker programs, etc.).
  • Moderate, lead, and present caregiver speaker programs as needed; attend community events within the assigned territory.
  • Provide in-service to physician offices to educate about the Family Support Educator role, patient resources, and enrollment processes; foster dialogue between caregivers and healthcare providers.
  • Identify opportunities to provide leadership within the Family Support Educator team and with cross-functional partners; mentor and develop new team members as applicable.
  • Identify training and development opportunities related to Patient Support Services and the broader organization.
  • Ensure all actions on Acadia’s behalf comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and Acadia values.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree, with life sciences emphasis preferred; RN/MSN/MBA a plus
  • Required: 5+ years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical Industry, Patient Access, National Accounts, or Specialty Pharmacy; at least 2 years in Patient Support, Education, or Leadership roles
  • Preferred: Senior Family Support Educator requires 7+ years of relevant experience with extensive Patient Engagement expertise; at least 4 years in Patient Support, Education, or Leadership
  • Preferred: Rare Disease, Product Launch, Advocacy, Medicaid and Medicare expertise; strong field environment understanding
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; life sciences emphasis preferred. RN, MSN, or MBA is a plus

Additional Requirements

  • Travel up to 70%, depending on territory
  • Ability to travel independently overnight and/or work after hours as required by travel schedule
