Description Overview
Seeking a technically strong, hands-on engineer to serve as a plant systems owner and capital project leader within a cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Own and support critical facility/utility systems (including purified water) and lead capital projects related to BMS and HVAC systems, including design, specification, implementation, and validation.
Salary range: $125,000β$150,000
Scope of the Role
Facilities & Utilities Systems Ownership:
- Serve as SME for purified water, HVAC, BMS, chilled water, compressed air
- Ensure reliable operation and compliance with GMP/quality requirements
- Troubleshoot complex failures impacting production
- Drive RCA, CAPAs, and long-term reliability improvements
- Coordinate with maintenance, vendors, and contractors
- Identify and implement reliability/performance improvements
Capital Projects Leadership:
- Technical lead for projects; apply sound engineering principles
- Manage capital projects >$1MM from concept through closure (planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution)
- Develop/review URS, DFMEA, P&IDs, equipment layouts, scopes of work
- Lead FAT, SAT, commissioning, qualification, verification
- Lead cross-functional teams; deliver on time/on budget/in compliance
- Monitor progress, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions
Operations & Technical Support:
- Hands-on support to resolve equipment/system issues
- Partner with operations/maintenance to minimize downtime
- Support IQ/OQ/PQ and change control
- Drive continuous improvement
Experience Required
Required:
- Bachelorβs degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Biomedical, or related)
- 6+ years in cGMP/regulated manufacturing with facility/utility systems and/or manufacturing/process equipment
- Proven ability to lead capital projects and cross-functional teams
- In-depth experience with purified water, HVAC, BMS
- Strong ownership, troubleshooting, and independent decision-making
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or similar) to review/modify layouts
Preferred:
- MS Project and capital budget management
- Installing/leading bulk equipment projects (tanks, pumps)
- Packaging equipment/production line installation
