Executive Medical Director, Global Medical Lead (Pain)

Role: Executive Medical Director, Global Medical Lead (GML), Pain, responsible for developing and executing the global medical strategy and evidence generation in the pain therapeutic area. Responsibilities include leading Integrated Medical Plans, scientific leadership, external engagement with thought leaders, and cross-functional alignment with development and commercial teams. Oversees global medical affairs team, manages budgets, and ensures compliance with regulations. Serves as disease area expert, drives scientific communications, and supports evidence development, including post-approval and lifecycle strategies. Represents Vertex at scientific forums and collaborates with regional medical teams to support product launches and lifecycle management. Provides medical expertise for label discussions, safety monitoring, and stakeholder communication. Leads cross-functional partnerships with Development, HEOR, RWE, and Commercial functions. Manages a global team, fostering development and ensuring strategic alignment. Qualifications: MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent; typically 15+ years' industry experience with 6+ years in leadership roles within medical affairs or clinical development; at least 2 years in the relevant disease area.
