Role Summary
Executive Director, US Forecasting at Amgen leads a forecasting team of 30โ35 individuals and provides strategic direction, data-driven insights, and scenario-planning guidance to support critical decision-making across the organization. The role requires influencing senior stakeholders across Commercial, Access, Medical, Finance, and Manufacturing, while collaborating with cross-functional leaders to develop robust forecasts and drive business growth in the pharmaceutical industry.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of directors to develop transparent, defendable revenue valuations and long-range forecasts for Amgen's portfolio
- Collaborate with US commercial leaders to understand market dynamics, identify trends, and anticipate opportunities and challenges
- Lead the annual commercial revenue forecast process and the monthly performance review process (Latest Estimate)
- Coordinate all commercial analytical approaches, ensuring quality, timely insights, and relevance to business questions
- Facilitate discussions with senior leaders to provide unbiased views of forecasts and associated risks and opportunities
- Act as a catalyst for critical thinking within the forecast team and cross-functional partners, testing assumptions for accuracy
- Identify and address potential secondary data issues impacting forecasts
- Demonstrate proficiency with secondary data sets (e.g., IQVIA claims, NPA, Xponent, 852/867)
- Articulate both business and clinical aspects of forecasting and market dynamics beyond baseline trends
- Establish aspirational yet achievable revenue targets and provide actionable forecasting guidance for launches and GTM strategies
- Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the forecasting team and across the organization
- Lead team management activities including hiring, training, and performance management
- Stay ahead of industry trends and technologies in forecasting, analytics, and market research
- Identify opportunities to leverage innovative technologies and methodologies to improve forecasting accuracy and efficiency
- Provide ongoing training and development to ensure team members stay current with industry trends
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree with 6 years of forecasting experience OR
- Masterโs degree with 10 years of forecasting experience OR
- Bachelorโs degree with 12 years of forecasting experience AND 6 years of managerial experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership in building and developing high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement
- Ability to establish credibility with and influence senior executives at SVP/VP level
- Commitment to innovative methodologies and tools to enhance forecasting capabilities
- Deep understanding of pharmaceutical markets and relevant disease areas
- Experience partnering with business leaders to deliver high-quality predictions to guide strategic initiatives
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills for diverse audiences
- Project management experience (planning, prioritization, objective setting, meetings, execution)
