Executive Director, Internal & Employee Communications

Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute an integrated employee communications strategy that advances enterprise priorities, strengthens employee engagement, and connects employees to mission, strategy, values, culture, and business priorities.
- Lead comprehensive communications strategy for employee engagement, culture communications, enterprise programs, internal channels, and editorial planning; oversee integrated execution across internal/digital/editorial/employee-facing channels.
- Establish goals and measurable KPIs; prioritize and allocate resources across competing needs.
- Use employee insights, engagement data, channel analytics, and feedback to advise leaders on sentiment and communications effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Public Affairs, business leaders, HR, and functional partners to shape enterprise/functional narratives.
- Design communications initiatives supporting connection, culture, inclusion/belonging, and understanding during enterprise change.
- Advise senior leaders on internal communications, employee engagement, change management, announcements, leadership visibility, and reputational impacts; support transformation and cultural adoption of change.
- Integrate “voice of employees” insights into communications strategies and business decisions.
- Identify and respond to sensitive internal reputational/culture-related issues.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment across strategic communications, employee engagement, internal channels, culture communications, HR, Legal, and Public Affairs.
- Oversee internal channels, editorial planning, publishing governance, and content strategy.
- Build relationships across HR, Commercial, Pharmaceutical Development & Manufacturing, Legal, Finance, Public Affairs, and other functions.
- Lead, coach, and develop managers and senior communication leaders; build a future-ready team across direct and matrixed structures.
- Proactively manage budgets, agency support, and operational priorities.

Qualifications:
- Enhanced: Global/enterprise internal/executive communications leadership (preferably regulated healthcare/pharma/biotech) with deep expertise across internal, executive, engagement, culture, change, and digital/internal channels; demonstrated integrated strategy; strong executive advisory and stakeholder engagement; issue management/change communications; ability to lead high-performing multi-layered teams in matrixed orgs.
- Basic: Bachelor’s + 14 years OR Master’s + 12 years OR PhD + 12 years.
- Preferred: Master’s + 12 years in corporate/internal/employee communications or public affairs; strong knowledge of internal platforms/digital/social/media; experience in publicly traded highly regulated company; ability to translate complex topics into clear communications; prior enterprise transformation/culture/engagement program support.
