Executive Director, Frontier AI

Responsibilities:
- Lead frontier AI strategy and roadmap aligned to business, scientific, and technology priorities.
- Drive scalable frontier AI capabilities with measurable impact across priority use cases.
- Prioritize portfolio and investment recommendations across reinforcement learning, multi-modal AI, model architectures, academic partnerships, and quantum AI/ML.
- Govern frontier AI activities (responsible AI, privacy, regulatory, model-risk) in partnership with CDT for security, adversarial resilience, model assurance, and high-risk deployment governance.
- Build and maintain an enterprise roadmap translating emerging AI research into scalable capabilities for R&D, Operations, Commercial, and corporate functions.
- Lead development and application of frontier AI capabilities (foundation models, multi-modal systems, simulation-based learning, reinforcement learning).
- Identify and prioritize high-impact use cases to improve scientific discovery, decision-making, productivity, and operational performance.
- Establish technical standards for model evaluation, experimentation, benchmarking, validation, and production readiness.
- Oversee PoC, pilot, and production pathways with appropriate governance, monitoring, lifecycle management, and joint reviews with CDT.

Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree and 6 years frontier AI experience OR Master’s degree and 10 years OR Bachelor’s degree and 12 years.
- 6 years managerial experience managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams/projects/programs/resource allocation.

Preferred:
- Define/lead frontier AI strategy; build enterprise roadmap; lead frontier AI development; identify high-impact use cases.
- Partner across AI platform, data engineering, architecture, product, domain teams, and CDT.
- Develop external academic research partnership strategy.
- Evaluate quantum AI/ML opportunities; communicate strategy/progress/risks; build frontier AI organization.

Benefits:
- Expected U.S. annual salary range (excluding Puerto Rico): $303,534–$410,664.
