Position Summary
The Executive Director of Enterprise Solutions and Innovation is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for envisioning, developing, and implementing enterprise-wide technology solutions that drive business value and innovation. This role will lead the strategy and execution of key enterprise systems, with a strong emphasis on data management, business intelligence, and the application of artificial intelligence to advance Crinetic's mission, particularly in the context of commercializing our first product. The Executive Director will partner closely with business leaders to identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve efficiency, drive insights, and create competitive advantage, and will be expected to be hands-on in the implementation and execution of these initiatives.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
These may include but are not limited to:
- Enterprise Systems Strategy and Management:
- Develop and execute the strategy and roadmap for enterprise applications (e.g., ERP, CRM, LIMS, etc.) to support business operations and growth.
- Oversee and actively participate in the implementation, integration, and ongoing management of enterprise systems, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
- Deliver an enterprise systems roadmap, system implementation plans, system integration architecture, enterprise architecture diagrams, and system performance reports.
- Enterprise Data Management and Governance:
- Establish and lead the company's data management strategy, including data governance framework, data quality initiatives, and master data management.
- Design, build, and maintain a data warehouse and business intelligence platform to provide actionable insights to the business.
- Ensure data is accessible, accurate, and secure.
- Deliver on data governance framework, data quality metrics and reports, master data management (MDM) strategy, data warehouse/business intelligence platform, data dictionaries and data catalogs.
- Artificial Intelligence and Innovation:
- Identify, evaluate, and pilot opportunities to apply AI and machine learning to solve business challenges and drive innovation.
- Lead the hands-on development and implementation of AI-driven solutions in areas such as drug discovery, clinical trials, manufacturing, and commercial operations.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the IT organization and the broader company.
- Deliver on AI strategy and use cases, AI model documentation, proof-of-concept (POC) reports, AI solution deployment plans, and innovation pipeline.
- Digital Workplace Enablement:
- Evaluate and implement technologies that enhance employee collaboration, communication, productivity, and engagement within the digital workplace.
- Optimize the use of collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace) to foster teamwork and knowledge sharing.
- Drive initiatives to improve digital literacy and empower employees to effectively use workplace technologies.
- Collaboration and Partnership:
- Partner with business leaders across all functions to understand their needs and collaboratively develop technology solutions to support their objectives.
- Build strong relationships with external technology vendors and partners, actively participating in vendor selection and management.
- Effectively communicate technology strategy and initiatives to executive leadership and stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on project progress and outcomes.
- Leadership and Team Development:
- Building matrixed teams of enterprise systems professionals, data engineers, and AI specialists, while also contributing directly to technical tasks.
- Mentor and develop team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to succeed, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Deliver on IT strategic plan contributions, budget management and team performance metrics.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in IT, with significant hands-on experience in leading enterprise systems and data management initiatives.
- 12+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing teams and budgets.
- Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing enterprise-level systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, Data Strategy).
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing data management strategies, including hands-on implementation including Enterprise Data Management, Master Data Management and Data Governance principles/models.
- Experience with Data/Ops and AI/ML Ops operating models; Understanding of AI/ML concepts and tools, with practical experience in model development or deployment.
- Good communicator, able to talk with stakeholders and customers to explain technology and with the proven ability to take insights from customers and translate them into technical deliverables.
- Experience working with vendors and leading a team including architects, engineers, quality assurance, and operations professionals.
- Experience implementing technology governance approaches and driving standards.
- Experience reviewing and assessing solution architectures.
- Experience with SAFe, Scrum and Agile methodologies.
- Proven ability to drive innovation and change, with a focus on delivering tangible results.
Preferred
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA, MS in Data Science).
- Experience with specific technologies relevant to the biotech industry (e.g., LIMS, clinical trial management systems) and a desire to work with them directly.
- Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., TOGAF, PMP, AWS/Azure certifications).
- Experience in a company that has gone through a commercialization phase, with a demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job. Total Compensation
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. Salary Range
The salary range for this position is: $250,000 - $312,000.
