General Summary:
- Lead the Alliance Management team supporting effective execution of global partnering.
- Ensure consistent Alliance Management user experience across the company and resolve issues across all alliances.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the function; keep key stakeholders and senior leaders updated on collaboration status and engage them in issue resolution and relationship management.
- Build Alliance Management processes and procedures as the BD portfolio grows to ensure risks are managed, stakeholders are engaged, relationships are healthy, and Vertex remains a world-class partner.
- Directly manage specific collaborations, including governance, issue resolution and negotiation, financial payments, and ongoing compliance with agreements.

Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Alliance Management team and manage collaborations across the Vertex portfolio.
- Develop processes and best practices to enhance Alliance Management and support external partnership growth.
- Develop strong internal and external relationships to coordinate collaboration activities.
- Proactively identify issues across collaborations and drive resolution; negotiate with partners.
- Oversee governance for specific collaborations.
- Ensure consistency across the Alliance Management function and project teams.

Knowledge And Skills:
- Lead cross-functional teams; manage through ambiguity; influence with and without authority.
- Strong negotiation, active listening, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Work effectively with senior leaders.
- Understand drug development and commercialization.
- Understand/manage complex legal agreements across technologies and partnership models.
- Proactive, organized; comfortable managing shifting priorities.

Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Typically requires 15 years of professional experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
