Responsibilities:
- Develop and steward the enterprise AI transformation strategy, reimagining how the organization operates and competes.
- Partner with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and activate high-value AI use cases; translate business problems into executable opportunities.
- Bridge non-technical business stakeholders and technical teams (data science, IT, digital) to drive measurable operational and strategic impact.
- Embed AI into operating models, workflows, and decision-making; drive organizational AI mindset shift.
- Champion AI literacy and upskilling (certification pathways, learning modules).
- Collaborate on AI governance and responsible AI: oversight, bias mitigation, transparency; ensure alignment with FDA/EMA and other relevant guidance.
- Align with cybersecurity for robust data protection protocols for sensitive data.
- Represent the organization at industry forums and translate evolving AI trends into strategic recommendations.
- Own the AI business case process (pilots, success metrics, ROI), maintain an AI investment portfolio, define KPIs/ROI, and report progress to executive leadership and the Board.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs or masterโs degree and 15+ years progressive business leadership in life sciences (Pharmaceuticals, Biotech, Medtech, or CRO/CDMO).
- Deep knowledge of at least two major functional areas (e.g., R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, Operations).
Additional preferred skills/experience:
- Led complex cross-functional strategic initiatives (including AI-related) from concept through execution.
- Business-lens evaluation of emerging technologies; can assess hype vs substance; vendor/internal accountability.
- Exceptional communication/influence; comfortable presenting to executives and facilitating frontline sessions.
- Strategic comfort with AI/ML, automation, and predictive analytics.
- Familiarity with life sciences AI regulatory frameworks (FDA/EMA guidance preferred).
Travel/Work:
- Hybrid role (Bridgewater, NJ); ~20% domestic and international travel; remote most of the time.
