Role Summary
Exec Director, Global Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management leads a team of supply chain professionals, sourcing and managing outsourced CMO networks and strategic supplier relationships for development, clinical, and commercial programs. The role oversees strategy, supplier selection, and performance management for API, direct materials, and manufacturing services, collaborating across PDM functions to sustain continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle. Location: Foster City, CA.
Responsibilities
- Development and Commercial Programs: Own strategic relationships with suppliers of manufacturing services and direct materials; lead sourcing of strategic partners, contract negotiation (MSAs, SOWs, supply agreements, pricing), and ongoing partnerships. Lead strategic discussions, long-range supply/capacity planning, and business development through the product lifecycle, ensuring financial discipline and opportunities for savings. Manage supplier performance (monthly/annually) with KPIs such as on-time delivery, first-time batch release, deviation closures, and batch rejection rates; escalate recurrent issues; lead BRMs with strategic suppliers; assess and mitigate supplier risks; develop and test BCP plans; oversee RFP/RFQ processes; align supplier strategies with network strategies; establish quality/technical expectations; segment suppliers; articulate digital roadmaps with suppliers; articulate sustainability and resilience strategies.
- Development/Clinical Programs: Support Development sub-team in selecting external service/material suppliers for Development through commercialization; provide intel on CDMOs and material supplier capabilities; lead site assessment teams for supplier selections; ensure Development selections align with Commercial strategies; establish quality/technical expectations; prepare/ review confidentiality, supply terms, and quality agreements.
- Commercial Programs: Support Product teams in selecting, onboarding, and offboarding external services/material suppliers across the product lifecycle; provide intel on Commercial CMO capabilities; lead site assessment teams to meet commercial program needs.
Qualifications
- Primary degree in Business, Science, or Engineering; Masterโs degree and/or professional qualifications in supply chain management desired.
- 15+ years in biopharmaceuticals with at least 5 years in management/leadership roles with contract manufacturers in a supply chain capacity.
- Experience developing and executing strategic plans and objectives; strong understanding of industry trends.

Education
