Job Responsibilities
- Lead data science vision and capabilities for Gilead commercial; build predictive sciences at scale using deep machine learning for investment allocation, Next best action, and patient/HCP journey for US and G9 markets.
- Apply predictive methodologies to develop applied data science that drives competitive edge; provide oversight/advisory on statistical methodologies and best-practice sharing on data science algorithms.
- Partner with IT ML Ops teams and create operating processes for productionizing data science solutions at scale.
- Drive, build, and roll out omni-channel analytics capabilities (e.g., automated micro-segmentation, decision engine, integrated patient and HCP journey).
- Provide leadership to operationalize commercial data governance aligned with the Global Data & Analytics backbone implementation and enterprise efforts.
- Design data and AI governance and business rules governance; draft, implement, and own data usage policies for the commercial organization.
- Define, implement, and manage operating model and change management considerations for data governance across commercial.
- Co-own leadership of the data office to steer commercial point of view for impactful use cases.
- Co-own the data budget with key affiliates; make decisions on key data purchases and contracting to enable use cases from simple to complex (omni-channel, digital quantitative patient journey, next best action).
Partner
- Collaborate with functional leads on harmonized data acquisition, data onboarding, and utilization considerations.
- Serve as internal expert on existing data sources (including pros/cons).
- Organize knowledge-sharing sessions with industry experts and vendor partners on trends and best practices.
- Partner with Marketing Sciences as the data partner to deliver actionable insights.
- Operate with an enterprise mindset focused on outcomes.
Ensure Data Quality, Privacy and Protection
- Build a team to deliver data governance and data quality in partnership with affiliates and IT.
- Publish data governance policies (e.g., data quality, data definition, data creation) with the cross-functional data governance council.
- Partner with legal and compliance to uphold privacy and compliance requirements across geographies.
- Operationalize technology and process-based protections for data integrity, privacy, and regulatory compliance, including analysis validity.
- Stay abreast of changing regulations for pharma commercial data and ensure system/data consumption compliance.
Leadership
- Act as commercial data and data science expert for brand teams, country teams, and cross-functional partners.
- Enable internal/external data scientists and Marketing Sciences colleagues with resources, tools, and training.
- Negotiate โOne Gileadโ mindset in contracts with third-party providers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree and 16+ years of experience, or 14+ years with an advanced degree (e.g., MBA/MS or Doctoral degree).
- Proven leadership in pharmaceutical and/or health tech; knowledge of biopharma analytics approaches (descriptive/predictive analytics and competitive intelligence/quantitative & qualitative market research).
- Understanding of emerging capabilities in natural language processing and unstructured data for pharma/healthcare.
- Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Experience recruiting, developing, mentoring, and motivating executives and building teams (Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Designers).
- Strong influencing, networking, and multi-layer global stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with Agile methodology execution and design thinking.
- Ability to travel internationally as required.
