Engineer β Automation Engineering
Responsibilities:
- Provide automation support for one or more operating areas and/or capital projects; support process automation for GMP startup and ongoing manufacturing operations.
- Serve as technical expert for process controls/data historian: influence and implement data contextualization and operational data democratization for compliance and analytics.
- Mentor the process control team (design, controls philosophy, implementation, commissioning); coordinate process control work and develop the Automation Engineering Project Plan.
- Collaborate with site leads and system integrators on functional requirements, design specs, DCS application software, and test specs; ensure data historization/architecture.
- Troubleshoot issues; modify OSI PI (including routine maintenance) under change control; maintain OSI PI system health.
- Create SOPs/work instructions/job aids for OSI PI and alarm management; provide lifecycle support (design, development, installation, testing, validation, support).
- Design/configure/test OSI PI components (server infrastructure, DeltaV integration, interfaces, asset framework, PI Vision) and integrate plant historian/electronic systems.
- Support capital projects/new product introductions; promote automation for productivity, operational efficiency, and compliance.
Qualifications (Required):
- B.S. in Engineering; automation engineering experience (preferably pharmaceutical manufacturing).
- 5+ years biopharma engineering/operations/manufacturing.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis (no visa sponsorship).
Preferences:
- Greenfield automated sites using SCADA/DCS/MES; experience with OSI PI, cybersecurity/IoT, protocols (e.g., BACnet/IP, Modbus, HART, OPC DA/UA, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, RIO), backups/disaster recovery, e-document systems, alarm management (e.g., LogMate/Win911), and Root Cause Analysis.
