We are currently hiring for an Automation Engineer for our new Concord, NC site.

Responsibilities
- Provide automation design and oversight to delivery of Lilly’s new Concord facility.
- Manage system integrators to deliver all aspects of automation for the Concord facility.
- Support corporate initiatives including life cycle management, engineering information management, and cyber security.
- Drive automation governance and replication across the Global Parenteral Network and the Global Packaging Network for Tier 1 equipment, architecture, and Automation/IT systems and solutions.

Key Objectives/Deliverables
- Safety: Work safely; ensure safe design/operation of new equipment; ensure automation design reflects safety needs for operations and maintenance.
- Automation/Control Discipline and Technical Leadership: Lead through solution assessment, replication, and development; manage tools/engineering standards/master specifications/best practices; coach other engineers; facilitate shared learning.
- Automation Design: Support European manufacturing sites and Global Facilities Delivery during profiling and design; ensure requirements are met, consider life cycle cost, eliminate non-value-add complexity; use replication/best practices to optimize cost.
- External Influence and Benchmarking: Monitor/influence external codes/standards for Lilly compliance; extract benchmarking from academia/industry.
- Technology and Innovation: Evaluate external trends/practices; develop proof of concepts and share use cases.
- Improve project automation engineering approaches by combining technical expertise, best practices, engineering standards, and delivery expertise.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in automation machine control, process control, or equivalent.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly does not sponsor visas/work authorization.

Additional Skills/Preferences
- Demonstrated ability to work safely.
- Expertise in automation platforms (preferably Rockwell Automation Systems).
- Rockwell FactoryTalk Batch.
- Robotic and conveyor systems (preferably FANUC and/or Staubli Robots).
- Strong problem-solving in measurements, control (process/manufacturing), control systems, integration, and data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to manage people and projects to deliver objectives.
- Knowledge of GMPs and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and databases.

Additional Information
- Based in Concord, North Carolina.
- Monday–Friday; some weekend/holiday may be required.
- Travel up to 25% during site start-up.
