Role Summary
Automation Engineer for Lilly's new Concord, NC facility. Responsible for automation design and oversight, managing system integrators, supporting lifecycle management, information management, and cybersecurity, evaluating new technologies, and driving governance and replication across global networks. Role focuses on delivering safe, cost-effective automation solutions for a state-of-the-art manufacturing site.
Responsibilities
- Provide automation design and oversight to the delivery of Lilly's new Concord facility.
- Manage system integrators to deliver all aspects of automation for the Concord facility.
- Support key corporate initiatives such as lifecycle management, engineering information management, and cybersecurity.
- Evaluate new technology and innovation trends, developing proofs of concept and sharing use cases for application within Lilly.
- Drive automation governance and replication across the Global Parenteral Network and the Global Packaging Network for Tier 1 equipment, architecture, and automation/IT systems and solutions.
- Optimize and improve project automation engineering approaches by combining technical expertise, best practices, engineering standards, and project delivery experience.
- Safety: promote safe design and operation of new equipment and ensure automation design reflects safety concerns.
- Automation/Control Discipline and Technical Leadership: lead the discipline through solution assessment, replication, and development; manage tools, standards, master specifications; provide coaching and consultation.
- Automation Design: support European manufacturing sites and Global Facilities Delivery during profiling and design; ensure design meets requirements, considers lifecycle cost, and reduces non-value add complexity.
- External Influence and Benchmarking: monitor external codes/standards and ensure ongoing compliance; benchmark with academia and industry.
- Technology and Innovation: stay current on external trends to evaluate and apply technology within Lilly.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field
- Required: Minimum 3 yearsβ experience in automation machine control, process control, or related field
- Preferred: Demonstrated expertise in one or more automation platforms, preferably Rockwell Automation Systems
- Preferred: Strong problem-solving skills in measurements, control, integration, and data
- Preferred: Excellent verbal and written communication, and ability to manage people and projects toward common objectives
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field
Additional Requirements
- Location: Concord, North Carolina (based out of Concord)
- Work schedule: 8-hour days, Monday through Friday; overtime and some weekend/holiday may be required for project support
- Travel: Domestic and international travel may be required, up to 25% during site start-up
