Role Summary

Center Medical Specialist role in a plasma donation center. Seeking EMT Basic, EMT Advanced, Paramedic, or LPN to assess donor health, provide education, and manage donor safety in a high-volume setting. Licensure as an EMT/Paramedic or RN/LPN/LVN and current CPR certification are required. Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Responsible for donor awareness of potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Qualifications

  • Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT; CPR certification required

Education

  • State licensure or certification as RN, LPN, LVN, Paramedic, or EMT; CPR certification required

Additional Requirements

  • Physical: able to stand/sit for 2–4 hours per day; bending/twisting 1–2 hours per day; frequent hand and finger movements; ability to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Mobility: frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch, or sit on heels; occasional walking or bending
  • Lifting: light lifting up to 15 lbs; maximum lift 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height
  • Sensory: hearing acuity; near and far vision (20/30 in one eye, 20/100 in the other)
  • Safety: exposure to biological fluids and potentially infectious organisms; exposure to electrical equipment; cold environment in plasma freezers; required personal protective equipment
  • Other: works independently under guidance; able to communicate clearly; handling of sensitive information
