Role Summary
Center Medical Specialist for EMT Basic, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic in a plasma donation center. You will perform donor health screening, establish medical history to determine donor suitability, educate donors about general health, and manage donor injuries or adverse events. Location: Saginaw, MI. Salary is based on licensure and experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health and provide counseling regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate & manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Qualifications
- Required: Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT. Current CPR certification required.

Additional Requirements
- Work is performed standing and sitting for up to 2β4 hours per day
- Bending and twisting of the neck up to 1β2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movements with dexterity to grasp and manipulate objects
- Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch, or sit on oneβs heels; occasional walking
- Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height
- Hearing acuity essential; color perception and near/far vision that are correctable
- Exposures to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms; exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment; plasma center environment; personal protective equipment required; exposure to extreme cold below 32Β°F in plasma freezers
