Role Summary

Center Medical Specialist for EMT Basic, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic in a plasma donation center. You will perform donor health screening, establish medical history to determine donor suitability, educate donors about general health, and manage donor injuries or adverse events. Location: Saginaw, MI. Salary is based on licensure and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and provide counseling regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate & manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Qualifications

  • Required: Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT. Current CPR certification required.

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed standing and sitting for up to 2–4 hours per day
  • Bending and twisting of the neck up to 1–2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movements with dexterity to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch, or sit on one’s heels; occasional walking
  • Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height
  • Hearing acuity essential; color perception and near/far vision that are correctable
  • Exposures to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms; exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment; plasma center environment; personal protective equipment required; exposure to extreme cold below 32Β°F in plasma freezers
