Role Summary

EHS Manager responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management System. Oversees site-specific EHS programs, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes a culture of safety and sustainability. Partners with business leaders and global teams to support safety, integrity, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead And Manage EHS Programs – Direct site-level implementation of the EHS Management System, ensuring compliance with global standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership – Guide and mentor site EHS administrators and program leads to drive consistency, efficiency, and best practices.
  • Physical Safety & Risk Management – Oversee physical safety programs, including daily safety in labs, production, and maintenance; conduct JHAs and risk assessments for high-risk activities; manage LOTO, confined space, elevated work programs; administer fall protection and equipment safety; oversee contractor safety programs; support emergency preparedness and spill response; manage PPE selection and fit testing.
  • Training & Learning – Serve as EHS Functional Learning Lead; maintain and enhance global training matrices, needs assessments, and learning tools.
  • Communications & Engagement – Lead EHS communications and engagement programs such as Earth Month, Safety Days, and EHS Awards.
  • Inspections & Investigations – Manage EHS inspections, audits, and investigations; perform floor walks and field verifications to identify and mitigate hazards; ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Systems & Data Management – Administer and optimize EHS IT tools (e.g., myEHS, Veeva, 3E); ensure data accuracy and reporting integrity.
  • Documentation & Governance – Maintain controlled EHS documentation, SOPs, and management system content per standards.
  • Metrics & Reporting – Develop dashboards, analyze performance trends, and prepare leadership reports.
  • Collaboration – Partner with Sustainability, Facilities, and Global Security to align environmental and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • Required: Minimum of 5 years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or highly regulated industry.
  • Required: Strong understanding of EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Required: Experience managing EHS management systems and digital tools (myEHS, Veeva, 3E).
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.
  • Required: Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills; experience leading inspections, training programs, and safety culture initiatives.
  • Preferred: Professional EHS certification such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM.
  • Preferred: Experience in sustainability reporting and metrics tracking.
  • Preferred: Participation in professional EHS associations or networks.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with learning management systems and global training frameworks.
