Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager (Covington, Ohio)
Responsibilities:
- Lead a safety culture where safety is integrated into every decision and activity.
- Maintain a highly visible presence, engaging employees at all levels.
- Promote proactive safety behaviors and encourage hazard reporting through the โGood Catchโ program.
- Lead/facilitate safety committees, employee engagement activities, and safety communications.
- Continuously assess and improve site EHS programs, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Plant Manager and Site Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and HR; ensure EHS considerations are incorporated into capital projects and process changes.
- Lead injury/illness cases from initial reporting to case closure.
- Conduct root cause investigations and ensure corrective/preventive actions are implemented and verified.
- Communicate lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
- Facilitate proactive area risk assessments and lead routine GEMBA walks.
- Evaluate workplace hazards and partner to implement practical controls.
- Lead internal/external EHS audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions; ensure compliance with OSHA/EPA and applicable regulations; maintain EHS records and follow-up actions.
- Develop/deliver EHS training and support onboarding and compliance training.
- Provide oversight for third-party site security services (24/7/365); manage Security Supervisor/contract team and support incident/case management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
- 7+ years progressive EHS experience in manufacturing.
- Experience implementing/managing EHS management systems; environmental reporting experience.
- Food/consumer products/pharmaceutical/highly regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills:
- Cross-functional leadership and ability to influence.
- Strong organizational/problem-solving skills; excellent written/verbal communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
