EHS Chemical Safety Advisor

Role Summary

The EHS Chemical Safety Advisor will establish, implement, manage and continuously improve the environment, health and safety programs for the facility, with subject matter expertise in safe handling and control of chemical agents. The role combines strategic EHS planning with site-wide EHS systems, regulations and best practices. This is a site-based role at the Upper Providence site in Collegeville, PA.

Responsibilities

• Act as the EH&S advisor for the Upper Providence and Upper Merion R&D sites
• Provide subject matter expertise for the safe handling and control of chemical agents
• Work with EHS professionals on the R&D team to deliver efficient and consistent programs to all groups within R&D
• Provide day-to-day support as part of a team to deliver first line advice, training, emergency response, risk assessment, incident investigation, input to local projects and processes to the site
• Provide specialist technical services (i.e., EHS Training, Machine Safety, Risk Assessment) to the R&D groups within the sites
• Provide Independent Business Monitoring Program leadership and support to R&D across the region and with the broader R&D EHS team
• Carry out regular workplace inspections to monitor compliance with site rules and procedures
• Alert management to legislative developments in Health, Safety and Industrial Hygiene that could impact operations
• Represent the interests of GSK in key external policy forums
• Champion the interests of stakeholders within the business in GSK EHS policy and strategy development
• Guide and engage with key managers and staff to ensure the site maintains an audit-ready status across all R&D groups within the region

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs, Chemical or related
• Required: 3+ years’ experience in EHS program development and implementation, preferably in the pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare industry
• Required: Experience with regulatory requirements and their application to an R&D environment
• Required: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Project
