Role Summary
Environment, Health & Safety Manager at Amgen. Responsible for supporting EHS programs within the site EHS management system, engaging with internal clients, and managing site EHS Engineering Design, Change Management, and New Product Introduction programs. Collaborates with broader EHS, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to establish world-class programs and opportunities for growth across EHS functions.
Responsibilities
- Key EHS Program Responsibilities: Review changes to processes, equipment, materials, or operations to ensure EHS requirements are addressed; conduct robust EHS Safety Engineering Reviews through project stages; partner with Manufacturing, Process Development, Engineering, and Supply Chain for safe New Product Introductions; review project documents for EHS input; enforce compliance with federal, state, and local requirements; integrate data into program plans and recommendations; act as site subject matter expert for assigned programs.
- Client Support: Partner with clients to advance safety culture and manage EHS risks; analyze metrics and create annual action plans; establish risk assessment plans and ensure hazards are identified; develop safe work procedures for hazardous work; conduct inspections and incident investigations; lead EHS management reviews with client leadership.
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma / GED with 10 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience OR
- Required: Associate degree with 8 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience OR
- Required: Bachelor's degree with 4 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience OR
- Required: Master's degree with 2 years of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability experience OR
- Required: Doctorate degree
- Preferred: Strong understanding of design and project engineering; strong understanding of risk assessment processes; knowledge of regulations pertaining to pharma/biotech operations; knowledge of EHSS programs (Machine Safety, Lock Out/Tag Out, Electrical Safety, Process Safety Management, Pressure Safety, etc.); applied EHS principles and regulatory standards; good communication, self-starting, program development, and project management skills; mechanical competence and hands-on capability; strong verbal and written communication; leadership to influence leadership and collaborators; ability to partner with staff and management; process-driven with Operational Excellence mindset; program development and project management experience; proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
