The Duchenne Nurse Educator (DNE) supports healthcare providers (HCPs), patients, and caregivers through education on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), the infusion process for approved therapies, and Sarepta patient support programs. Builds relationships with HCPs, patients, and families, collaborates with cross-functional partners to ensure therapy compliance, and covers Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Alaska.
Responsibilities:
- Educate providers, infusion nurses, patients, and caregivers on DMD therapies and the infusion process.
- Serve as a recognized expert on DMD education (genotype, deletions, disease process, etc.).
- Stay current on the DMD environment.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to support HCPs, patients, and families.
- Present compliantly; conduct disease-state awareness programs.
- Support infusion experience by sharing best practices with infusion nurses.
- Coordinate with the SareptAssist team and specialty pharmacy for transition from infusion center to home infusion for PMO therapies.
- Provide support to patients/families as requested by case managers or HCPs.
- Attend advocacy meetings and represent the company at industry conferences.
- Travel as necessary; perform other related duties.
- Special project triage nursing support: take triage calls post gene therapy during rotating on-call shifts; interpret medical information; liaison with an experienced physician (confidential); document per guidelines (PV reporting); route teams to appropriate Customer Service resources with day/night/weekend coverage.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with BSN/BS/BA from an accredited school.
- 5+ years relevant experience (infusion, neuromuscular, pediatric neurology, or other specialty preferred).
- Prefer 2+ years pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience.
Required Skills:
- Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication (live/virtual; with/without technology).
- Team collaboration with cross-functional partners.
- Empathetic, patient/family communication skills.
- Comfort with demanding environment; continuous learning.
- Valid driver’s license (in good standing).
Requirements:
- Rotating 24/7 on-call coverage.
- Travel up to 60% within assigned territory.
Preferred:
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
