The Duchenne Nurse Educator (DNE) supports health care providers, patients, and caregivers by educating on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), the infusion process for approved therapies, and Sarepta patient support programs. Covers Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Alaska.
Responsibilities:
- Educate providers, infusion nurses, patients, and caregivers on DMD therapies and infusion process.
- Serve as a recognized expert on DMD education (genotype, deletions, disease process, etc.).
- Stay current on the DMD environment.
- Collaborate with internal/external partners to support HCPs, patients, and families.
- Present compliantly; conduct disease-state awareness programs.
- Support infusion nurses with best practices; improve infusion experience.
- Coordinate transition from infusion center to home infusion for PMO therapies with SareptAssist/specialty pharmacy.
- Support patients/families as requested; attend advocacy meetings and industry conferences.
- Travel as needed; complete other related duties.
- Special triage project: provide 24/7 rotating on-call telephone triage post gene therapy; liaise with an experienced physician; intake/interpret info; document calls (PV reporting); direct teams to appropriate service center.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with BSN/BS/BA from an accredited school.
- 5+ years relevant experience (infusion, neuromuscular, pediatric neurology, or other specialty preferred).
- Prefer 2+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel up to 60%.
- Requires rotating on-call coverage 24/7.
Preferred:
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
