Role Summary

Donor Recovery Specialist in Seattle, WA. Represent MIMEDX as an ambassador of the Placenta Donation Program at partner hospital facilities, educating clinical staff and physicians and maintaining relationships to support hospital partnerships. Coordinate daily procurement of donor birth tissue and oversee sterile collection procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Account & Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain a positive impression of the Placenta Donation Program for physicians, nurses, clinical support staff and hospital leadership
  • Identify and address problems/issues with hospital staff, physicians, or nursing leadership
  • Coordinate with hospital staff and leadership to minimize disruption of unit operations while ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Train hospital staff and physicians on facilitating functions to support the Donation Program, providing in-services as needed
  • Donor Interaction & Screening
  • Safely acquire all raw materials (birth tissue) for manufacturing
  • Educate and recruit donors, obtain consent, and conduct in-person risk assessments
  • Evaluate potential donors for tissue eligibility, reviewing medical and social background and conducting questionnaires
  • Maintain accurate traceability of donor records
  • Tissue Acquisition
  • Ensure tissue is recovered in an operating room environment and handled aseptically; address observations with surgical staff
  • Facilitate collection of donor blood specimens; coordinate with phlebotomy, pathology, and laboratory departments
  • Create sterile field and perform aseptic addition of tissue transport solution; maintain traceability of supplies
  • Package donated tissues for transport to the manufacturing facility; ensure arrival compliance
  • Manage supplies and equipment for the Donation Program on the hospital unit

Problem Solving

  • Implement best practices for daily operations of the Donation Program
  • Identify and resolve problems with donors or hospital staff in real time to prevent escalation
  • Refer complex issues that could jeopardize the hospital partnership to management

Decision Making / Scope Of Authority

  • Exercise prudent judgment to screen donors for safety and transplant eligibility
